Problems Caused By Fishing

Introduction
Problems in fishing ground conservation in Nomi bay. Problems in fishing Kumaraguru, a resident of Loganathapuram, said there was neither fish nor jobs for the locals. Q- It is said that you have more problems in fishing than in agriculture.

Management
Management should be flexible enough to initiate timely amendments of management regulations in the light of the changes in resource conditions, and economic and social situations in rural communities. Management authority must take full cognisance of the costs of administration, negotiations, research and enforcement necessary to undertake the CFM programme. Develop practical mechanisms to ensure coordination and collaborationamongst agencies to facilitate integrated management. On the other hand, as the study demonstrates, given proper participatory management and a fair share of the coastal fish resource, fishery sector employment could be doubled in the area.

Fishermen
Fishermen employment increased to over 4 300 by 1950[51]. Fishermen do not like to lose any of their line, especially the expensive variety, because they will have to replace the line after a few mishaps involving cutting of the line. Fishermen's associations in the area have banded together to form the "West of Four Degrees Fishery Management Group" to develop proposals for effective and beneficial management of the inshore fishery within the six mile zone. It was mentionedthat awareness building to impart the sense of rights and obligations to fishermen isimportant. There were some questions about the reasons why so manyyoung fishermen entered the fisheries sector although the job was not perceived as a high statusjob.

Population
Population growth was mentioned as an important factorexplaining the increase in fishing effort and over-exploitation of fisheries resources in the pastand the speaker identified it as the main obstacle to resource conservation and sustainabledevelopment.

Coastal
It should be recognised however, that the severe fishing pressure of the past 20 years, and the largely uncontrolled application of modern technology, have depleted the stocks of fish once abundant in the coastal waters.

Conclusion
Q- It is said that you have more problems in fishing than in agriculture. I agree to this statement. Although fishing has many benefits, we need to carry fishing out at a sustainable level. Or else, the future of the fishing industry will collapse.
